'94 Miata,'02 GTI and new S - pick only two

This being my first post here so I thought I would ask a basic question about having a
2 car family including at least one roadster.

The background is that i bought a new GTI in 2002. It is my "jack of all trades" vehicle - it is not the best in any one category but is flexible enough for a homeowner to have as his only car. It has nice acceleration, german feel, is reliable, is comfortable, and I can put a mountain bike and a 60 lb. blue heeler in the back when I fold down the seats

Then last month, having been a roadster admirer for several years, I went out and bought a '94 Miata with a hardtop for $3,000. Bottom line is you can't get more fun per dollar than a used Miata. The problem is I also test drove a 2001 S and I felt like I was driving a cutting edge, F1 version of the Miata. So the memory of that test drive is still vivid in my consciousness enough so that I would like to purchase one.

Since I can only have 2 cars do I sell the Miata or the GTI? Practicality says keep the GTI, but if I sell the Miata will the S2000 fill ALL of that void?

If you have to ask, keep the Miata.

I don't think you will miss the Miata. You will however miss the utility of the GTI.

With the blue and the bile you probably need to keep a car like the GTI. Still giving up the Miata would be hard. Sure the S2000 is a better overall sportscar but it's hard to beat a Miata for pure fun.

Maybe you should sell me the Miata. :rev:

Here is my take, the pre-99 miatas are lightweight and fun but seriously underpowered. You can pick up a 2000/2001 s2000 for an exremely good price. I used to own both cars simultaneously and guess one collected dust on the warm summer days?

:) i say get rid of the miata. and get the S. but then again this is a s2000 board. may want to try other boards and hear others opinions as well. :drunk: :rev:

It seems to me that from a practicality standpoint, the S and the Miata are identical, both fun to drive impractical little roadsters. If you owned both the S and the Miata, when would you use the Miata?? :rev:

Sunny days > S ... Track days > S ... Picking up chicks > S ...

If you have the cash buy the S and dump the Miata, but I dont see any reason to buy the S and dump the GTI.

Don't be shocked when someone comes up to you somewhere.. someplace and asks you...

"Does your pussy hurt driving that car?"

Dump that little girl car and step up dood...
