for soem reason, when i do turn the a/c off... it seems like she doesnt want to defrost at all. i just leave her on !

1) Dehumidify the air inside the cabin
2) Heat up the windsheild.

When you use the a/c, #1 happens almost instantaneously.

When you don't use it, it takes a while for the car to warm up and generate heat thru the vents, hence taking longer.

02+ hondas all had this feature.

Here's another point, there have been 3 topics on this in the past week, all longer than 2 pages.

I used these instructions to gain control over whether the A/C was on or not while using my defroster very recently. They worked fine on my '03, with the exception that it was the green A/C light that blinked, not the orange Recirculate light (as described in the instructions). Anyone else have this same experience?

also, change your air filter.

my defroster would take forever

changed the air filter, which was beyond clogged, and now the defroster works great!

I recently found some rainX anti-fog in a black plastic bottle at Walmart. It's for interior glass and works good to stop inside fogging and steaming of the windshield. I think when the soft-top gets wet, it takes extra long to defrost the windshield but this helps.

Running the AC de-humidifies the air that comes into the cabin, which helps the defrosting process.

Try this,

To deactivate automatic a/c feature on 2002 CR-V:

1) Turn vehicle off.
2) Turn fan knob off.
3) Turn temperature knob all the way to the left (blue area).
4) Turn vent knob to panel only setting (next to max a/c).
5) Hold down both air recirculation button and a/c button while starting car.
6) Continue holding for 7 seconds until air recirculation button stops flashing.

To reactivate automatic a/c feature on 2002 CR-V:

1) Turn vehicle off.
2) Turn fan knob off.
3) Turn temperature knob all the way to the left (blue area).
4) Turn vent knob all the way to the right (defrost position).
5) Hold down both air recirculation button and a/c button while starting car.
6) Continue holding for 7 seconds until air recirculation button stops flashing.
7) After the 7 seconds described in step 6, the recirculation button will start to flash. Continue to hold the button for another 7 seconds. After this, the a/c light will turn to green and it's finished!

Although this write up is based on a Honda CRV it also works for the S2000. I've done it twice so far. If you in any case dis-connect your battery terminal, you'll have to go through the process again.

I tried this last night and it didn't work for me. I've done it before and it worked but last night it didn't. Maybe I used another set of directions?!?!?

The description seems really vague... not technically defined.

In step #4... which is the panel setting?

In step #5... do we really start the car?
