Default Advice with suspension

Hi from ireland. Just after buying an 2002 s2k. The s2k i have has a cheap set of maxpeedingrods (been told theyre cheap rubbish) on it and it makes the car extremely bouncy and can be a rough drive so im looking for advice. Should i try adjusting damping on the maxpeedingrod coils for the time being while maybe try ordering stock suspension from ebay? or would it be better to save up for some decent coilovers? Im a uni student so im a bit broke at the moment and ive had to get the alternator, brakes, clutch and tires done for it as its been sitting up for about 7 years for the most part. I Still have yet to do all the fluids. I know the s2k every year came with slight changes in the suspension shocks and other bits. If I order OEM from ebay does it matter what year theyre from or as long as theyre all the same year it should be fine?
Id appreciate any advice!
Thanks

I wouldn't bother getting stock suspension as they're going to be old and worn. They cannot be rebuilt so you're basically getting suspension which will have a limited life span and could very well be blown out. The closest I've found are the HKS Hipermax S for near-OEM ride quality. The valving is soft enough that they're comfortable if you turn the rebound all the way down. They're relatively cheap for coilovers and will last you at least 30k-45k road miles. You can also get Bilstein B14s but those aren't height adjustable.

Ohlins if you're feeling spendy. low mile OEM is a great choice for the budget conscious. $250 for all 4 corners is cheap- and the s2000 dampers are built for longevity.

As a poor college student you definitely should first try adjusting the damping. It's free, easy, and will help you learn about suspension tuning.

I suggest being methodical and taking notes after driving a few days on different settings.

I wouldn't bother with used OEM suspension. I'd tinker with what's there to see if that helps, then I'd save for a decent replacement.

I don't know if this is cope or naivete, but we're talking suspension engineered in the early to mid-1990s, which is anywhere from 26 to 17 years old at this point, and has anywhere from 50k-100k miles on it. It is not engineered for that kind of longevity.

Ye thats why im thinking OEM. Because theyre significantly cheaper and i cant afford a decent set of coils at the moment. It wont pass safety standards i dont think with the current cheap coils it has on.

Ye well the old OEM ones 3 are pissing oil so no good at all. Thats why it was put on the cheap trash coils before i bought it. I dont even know where id get OEM ones anyways. Bit of a rarity here these cars and any other japs too.
