Default Aggressive Pickup Trucks

Sometimes it seems the mere existence of a small sports car is enough to trigger many pickup drivers.

Just driving along, minding business. Casual cruise. Daily driving. Had many instances where pickups get super aggressive. Cutting off. Then spraying wipers, slamming brakes. Extreme tailgating, with high beams.

Recently had one literally run me off the road on highway. Dove at the side of my car. Only extreme swerve into breakdown lane and hard braking avoided collision. Things escalated from there.

Top down seems to be a big part of triggering. Especially in less common circumstances. When its a little colder, or at night.

Just now, 7PM, was highway top down. Pickup swerves across my bow, severe cut off. Then sprays wipers. Then is all over road trying to block me passing, even though wasn't trying to.

Its always these hulking huge trucks that would crush you like a tin can.

Is this common all over?

Never heard of this. If it is a pattern, get a dash cam and call police?

Yeah, I don't find that they necessarily go out of their way to do that stuff around here.

But you need to understand the mind of the truck bro. If you challenge their perceived command of the road, they will become agressive.

I drive my S2000 like its a mouse moving thru traffic. If I'm threading through the lanes and some truck bro becomes aggravated because I slid thru a gap in front of him, I'll usually just find a pocket of traffic big enough for my car to JUST fit, and slide through that too, leaving them behind. It feels like I'm scraping gum off my shoe.

I try to be considerate to other drivers when I'm driving my Expedition. If I see someone threading traffic in a sports car or something, I just think, "well this bloke is just out having a nice drive. I should let him go about his way."

I've never constantly used the mirrors & looked over my shoulders, as I do these days. Especially when traffic is relatively light.

Not only a lot of aggressive --- but daydreaming, texting, arguing on the phone drivers, too.

In trucks and big SUVs.

Have not had quite the issues you have illustrated. I don't know if it is the area I live in or the "Navy" license plate and wings emblem that might make some jerk feel sorry for me instead of running me off the road.
My big worry from experience is someone just not seeing me and sliding over in my lane. I use the horn more in this car than any other. The offenders seem truly shocked and mortified they almost caused an accident.

Hey man at least you have an AP2 and people can hear your horn. And when they hear it, it doesn't make them burst out laughing

Where are you located? I'd get license plate and call the sheriff/police while it's happening. Esp if they are trying to run you off the road. I don't even understand what goes through people's brains sometimes

100% - I use my horn pretty regularly - and here in the south people act like I just fired a weapon at them. I'm from New England and liberal use of the horn is just about required on the driving test up there.

lol seriously - my 2000 Tundra has a weenie horn and I was relieved the first time I heard my AP2 horn when test driving. I'm thinking of trying to get another and put it in my truck
