Alignment experts need your help

I recently got an alignment and the specs came out as follows:
FL / FR
-1.0 / -0.5 Camber
5.5 / 5.8 Caster
-0.02 / -0.01 Toe

RL / RR
-2.2 / -1.5 Camber
0.22 / 0.27 Toe

My car felt unstable before the alignment, especially when going over dips and bumps at speed and while turning. (I am lowered about 1.5" on GC coilovers on stock ap2 rims) I brought it in to my local firestone and they performed the alignment. However, the unstable feeling is still present. I heard there are certain alignment settings that reduce this "bumpsteer" effect. What are some recommended specs I can use? I'll see if the tech at firestone will dial in the specs I give them.

btw how do those specs look?

your getting an uneasy feeling in the rear over some bumps? like the car is side stepping?

imo, without a camber kit, sure you can dial in a certain alignment to reduce bumpsteer, but i think something else will be compromised.

The alignment you got is totally unacceptable. Take it back to the shop and have them align it exactly to spec with you sitting in the car (or with dummy weights in the driver's seat). Someone really rushed you out the door on this one!

that is so uneven it scares me... those look like my specs before my alignment, I would definitely get your money back NOW

zzziippyyy May 23, 2009 06:15 AM

WOW thats really uneven side to side. Are you sure the alignment tech knows how to align.

as others have said before, the alignment you have should be really close to even on both sides. take it back and have them redo it or get your money back and never go back there again...

those stats look worse than pre-alignment

ASpec818 May 25, 2009 01:15 PM

ok so I brought it back in today for a realignment. Here are the new specs:

FL / FR
-0.5 / -0.6 Camber
6.0 / 5.9 Caster
0.04 / 0.01 Toe

RL / RR
-2.0 / -1.6 Camber
0.16 / 0.14 Toe

It looks a lot better now. What do you guys think? The tech told me that the farthest they were able to bring the rear left camber was -2.0

Also, why do the "Before" alignment readings from my current alignment sheet differ from my actual readings from my last alignment? It's only been a month. Does the s2000 alignment change that fast due to road conditions?

starchland May 25, 2009 01:20 PM

is it possible the alignment tech was having a lazy day?

maybe also tire wear, pressure, weight in the car, etc? not sure.

I personally think the rear camber is too uneven, im running -2.3 and -2.1... I personally would not be happy with more than a .2 difference.
