I finally got mine done, i must say the car sounds waaaaaaay better. I can actually hear then engine and other noises now that used to be covered by the rattle sound.

One thing though, the new clutch # is

P/N 22200-PCX-025

Reading through some old posts i noticed some people saying that the new number was:

P/N 22200-PCX-005

This is wrong.

This happens to be the old clutch and if you got this one you got an old one back.

You can see this info on the TSB-055 as well. The new clutch number and failed clutch number mentioned above are both there.

One more thing, the Canadian TSB for the 1-2 grind also had a 1000 KM break-in warning not to exceed 5500 RPMs, unfortunately i don't have a copy of it to scan, it is at the dealers.

By the way, if you havn't done the clutch fix, DO IT, it makes the clutch 4-3k rattle much much quieter.

Sev

Can you explain what the clutch fix is? Is this a recall?

Thanks Sev! I really think I'm going to have it done now, because the noise is getting really loud.

Thanks for the report.

Take care,
Andrew

Honda has developed a clutch that reduces the rattle noise that comes when decellerating from 4000 to 3000 RPMs.

It is a TSB and is replaced free of charge.

Completely agree! Not only is the new clutch 100% less noisy, it grabs better and (along w/ 2nd gear fix) makes snaking through the gears amazingly smooth.

Do you know from what period the new cars have the new clutch in them? I haven't heard of this before

No one really knows for sure, if you have a "waaaaaaa" noise in 2nd or 3rd gear from 4-3k rpms coasting that mostly goes away as soon as you put your foot on the gas, then you have the problem.

Nobody really knows for sure. My guess would be yes, especially if the car was made after or a little before the TSB was realesed.
