Another 4.56 gear set installed
Ok - just drove about 85 miles home from Metro's own Billman after a sweet/smooth diff swap. & yellow box install.
I elected to have Stratocaster's installer put the new 4.56 gears into the diff housing. My OEM diff is heading back to Strat/Texas in the morning. Great service, communication & delivery. Props to RickS2K.com
Those of you that don't know - Billman250 is an amazing mechanic - he also happens to be a genuinely fine person and totally stand up guy! Thanks always Bill.
On to my first thoughts on the new gear set...first impressions... the car pulls much better. Engagement in all gears feels more powerful & more responsive. Simply put the car is quicker & feels it.
A bit more shifting & shifting faster through the gears. I'm also in a temporary (few hundred miles) break in period so I'm not pushing to VTEC & redline shifts just yet
...the car is also louder. I love the sound of my S. I love it with the K&N intake too. With the new 4.56 gear set there is a noticable increase in the symphony of sound that the car makes as I accelerate/decelerate. I think that with the additonal power I have even added a few new buzzes to my assortment of sound.
Sixth gear seems to have new purpose & meaning. It feels useful in a way it hadn't before i.e I can accelerate in 6th gear. RPM's are up at least several hundred perhaps 5 or 6 hundred while cruising 75-85...
I think I'm going to like this mod a lot. A whole lot.
