Default Another glass rear window question.

I realize this thread has been beat to death like the proverbial RHSC, but I was cleaning my plastic window today after the snow and had an idea. I wonder if a retofit kit could be made for the 00-01 that utilizes the 02 glass window top, but only requires replacement of the rearmost roof bow rather than the entire (pricey!) roof skeleton. Is the entire roof structure different on the 02, or is it just some of the parts? Since the 02 top was sort of a mid-term refinement, I can't see Honda having redone the entire top/structure.

Thoughts anyone?

Mike

my car was alongside an '01 yesterday, and i was amazed at the difference between the two roof lines... i think it would have to be an entirely different thing - but as you said, it has been beat to death. do a search and read up!

YES it can be done, you can put a glass window on the 00-01 s2000's
but it will cost you a lot of $, with $ anything is possible. you would have to get the new top, new frames. etc and get the dealers to put it on for you. i would say $2000-3000 should do it. is it worth it?? that depends on you, i would rather get a hard top.

My top was recently vandalized, so I looked into the swap (possibly paying the difference), it's 2,400 for the 2002 top vs 1,200 for 2001, still not worth it in my opinion.

Why hasn't someone come out with an aftermarket replacement for the window portion only? I'm sure it would be very small since it would have to fold, but I could live with the top half. I tend to look through that portion of the window anyway. Hell half the time I rely on my outside mirrors anyway.

I know if there was a way I could get a glass rear window, doesn't even need a defroster, that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg, I'd do it. Even though I really only drive it in nice conditions, I still like the look of a real glass window in the back. Someone really needs to come up with a good way to do this...
