Default any spring recommendations?

My MY01 is my daily driver, and i had bought it with some nuespeed springs, and it also came with some crappy tires. The car is way to low, and drives pretty bad.

Basically, I want some springs for a street car, street tires, to go on stock struts. Something that will leave me with some good suspension travel, and that can make the rear feel planted (with a good alignment, and some performance oriented street tires of course).

What springs have you found to be like this, or that you thought were good for your daily driver?

ok, let me try this again.

i have driven my friend's year 2000, before, and after he put in Tein S springs (i heard that these are show car springs, and dont belong on handling cars, coming from an Sti driver). he also got ap2 wheels in conjuction with the springs, and the combo resulted in more traction at the rear, and Im sure the azeni's played a hand in that too. the rear feels very planted, and he is running a UK spec alignment (for 2001 s2k), missing .5 degrees camber on the front tires.

Right now, with my setup, neuspeed "slam you car springs", junk tires, and god knows what alignment, the car gives me tire squeal and baby sliding with partial throttle input 1st, 2nd gear, given that the wheels are turned. the 4.77's the car came with dont help here either.

I want to start over. i have brand new tires, 245/50/16 yoko AVS es100, and am gonna get either 215, or 225 for the front. i am leaning towards 215 for some learner's understeer. Once i got all the tires, i will put em on with UK spec alignment for MY01. These are supposed to make the car feel really planted with stock tires and springs.

So, Robinson, i take the suggestion well, but I would like some more input, and i dont want to put in stock springs to find out the car is gonna drive sloppy. Please, some feedback guys....

btw, this was previously in racing forum because i figured I'd get more informative posts there, but my initial post was weak too.

first of all, if you want springs for handling, the reason robinson suggested stock springs is because the stock setup handles VERY well. the only step up from the stock coilovers would not be to get lowering springs, but to go for coilovers (but this does get pricey).

however, if you do want to lower your car for aesthetic purposes, many people would suggest the eibach pro-kit. this setup is supposed to ride like stock, lowers the car a modest inch, and was designed specifcally for 00-01 years. another step up would be to get koni yellow shocks with this setup.

second of all, get your tire sizes back to stock; then see if you want to play around with different sizes. the correct size for the front is 205/55/16. I believe the correct size for the rears are 245/45/16.

hope this helps.

Stock springs allow the suspension full travel by raising the ride height. With stock springs, better tires, and a UK alignment you're well on your way improving handling and response.

If your buddy's got some of those Falken tires, them sumbitches hold. Comparing his good tires w/ tien springs to your crap tires and neuspeed springs and saying his springs account for the difference in handling is a big 'no'. The stock springs aren't sloppy at all. Though I've no other experience, I don't see much left to be desired in the suspension of the S2000.

My stock springs were pretty hard to learn how to drive rwd with. From what i've read the 00-01's stock springs are the twitchiest of all the stock S's.

And for the record I've been on some pretty horrible tires and my cars never really driven bad..

That's funny...my situation was the exact same as yours. I bought the car lowered on Neuspeed springs and terrible tires and promptly installed Eibach Pro-kits, Koni Yellows, and new tires. The difference was incredibly dramatic and I'd definitely recommend this setup to anyone. I've driven a lot of cars with different suspension setups and this is one of my favorites. Not as good as the P1 setup I had on my Impreza, but this is setup is excellent.
