Default Anybody else hears this faint hiss/whistle under partial acceleration?

Sometimes if I turn off the radio I can hear this faint turbo-like spooling up whistle coming from the engine . This happen when accelerating moderately from 3000RPM in 3rd. I may hear it also doing the same in 4th gear ,but it's harder to hear due to increased road/tire noise.
Anybody knows what I am talking about ? what is it?

Maybe elves broke into your car and installed a turbo while you were asleep. God bless those little guys

I hear it as well, I think it IS my turbo though. Seriously, what you're hearing is probably the electric smog thing that sits just behind the fake vent on drivers side of the front bumper. Through various stages of dissassembly, I noticed that little smog pump making odd whistling noises.

Yes my S2K does it too. Glad to hear I'm not alone. Since it's pretty quiet, I have tried not to let it bug me.

I hear similar sounds when I cold start mine after sitting in the garage overnight. After 30 seconds, the event is over. Never bothered me but it is good to find out what it might be.

I'm not talking about the cold starting thing . This whistle I hear is after car is warmed up .The whistle goes up in pitch with the acceleration , just like a turbo would do , except you really need to listen closely to hear it . Maby a bypass valve for emission doing something during acceleration ?

Mine has that sound too. I like the sound, it reminds me of a Ferrari ( a much quieter one ). Does anyone know if s2k's have dual fuel pumps? If so, that could be the sound. I like it

It gives it a distinct sound that doesn't sound like a typical Honda at low rpm's. How can you not like the sound.

You also may just be hearing the engine whine through the stereo system. See if it goes away when you turn the radio off.
