ap2 redline
i've seen some posts mentioning that the ap2's redline is 8200 or 8300. i've always read that it is 8000 and of course our tachs reflect 8000. are people just referring to fuel cutoff at the higher rpm's or is it actually that high?
|
The actual redline is at 8000. The fuel cutoff is at 8200.
|
so it can 't reach 9000 before shift?
|
With some serious modding, the AP2 can be spun to 9k safely.
But as it is, nope, 8200. |
Actually all you need is to change the ECU to allow the AP2 engine to rev to 9k. :) There are a few members who have had ther F20c motor blow, and replaced with the F22 while retaining their old ECU etc...and allow the car to rev to 9k.

Mine cuts at 8300.

Yeah you can swap an f22 and keep your ap1 ecu to rev to 9 k but it will take a toll on that motor. You would need to chage the valvetrain and a few other things to do it safely. Otherwise you would probobly wind up bending a valve or a rod and thats not good. Honda put it the f22 at 8 and the f20 at 9 for a reason. They've got years of experience so I trust that they did it for the best

They blow their F20 and then run the F22 up to 9k? Uhh...maybe I don't want to follow their example. |
