amsoil 75w110. Diff magnets remain virtually smear free after 7000kms and towing a 400 lb tire trailer.

Billman has stated several times in threads the Mobil 1 75W 90 has been a solid performer in his experience. I believe that is what he uses.

Based on his recommendations, as well as industry threads, I have exclusively used that. I change every year (just because I want to) and I find in the pretty clean drain oil that there is only a smudge of "paste" remaining on the magnet.

Best is what makes you happy and lines up with the original spec. As you can tell many opinions on what that is.

Good thing is that nobody coming in to say what fluid trashed their diff, so don't over think this one.

Personally, I don't think any of this amounts to a hill of beans as long as you use something that meets the specs.
But, you do have to pick something. So, I pick Amsoil 75w110. Nothing bad has happened yet - at least nothing caused by my diff oil. So, I guess I'll stick with it.

Whatever you use it takes less than a quart so even magic elixir is cheap in the grand scheme of things. Hypoid gear oil.

This is what I've always used.

Ok, at the risk of sounding like a jacka$$, how does one love a certain fluid? Does different viscosity affect the activation of the LSD? All I would notice is whether or not the diff starts making noise after changing the fluid. Serious question, not trying to be a wiseguy. I used Mobile 1 synthetic 75-90 last time and no noises.

Mobil 1 75W-90. Recommended by Billman and LHT are good enough for me.
