Best Year S2K - Everything Considered

I didn't mean to jack this thread.... Haha.
Would you say an AP1 or AP2 is better for a guy buying his first sports car. I was thinking AP2 just because of all the safety features.

I have an 02 which I loveeeee. BUT I kinda rushed my buy and jumped on the first good deal I could find so I kinda regret it... If I could do it all over again I would have waited for a 06 or better yet an 09 CR!

I think it really depends on you. I bought my S brand new in 08. Sometimes when I'm looking at parts for sale I'm like f*ck wish I had bought used one out right so no payment aka more money for modding. But newer has perks my gauge cluster looks different than most S I've seen, my seats all solid(no helmet cutout) my soft top has glass window not plastic. VSA is another story. Sometimes I hate it. But it has saved my ass also. If I had bought older S I probably would.have wrecked it by now, I've gone up hills babying it in the rain and had VSA flashing the whole time. Also side note newer ones have the option for the best color. Laguna Blue ftw.

I've owned AP1 and AP2, the ultimate S2000 for me is a Frankenstein mix:
AP1 engine for the 9K redline
AP1 steering rack for the quicker ratio
AP1 seats
AP1 lighter flywheel
AP1 no clutch delay valve
AP1 brake pads... no dust
AP2 bumpers and lights
AP2 VSA... not intrusive and a good safety net
AP2 tranny for the revised gear ratios
AP2 wheels if you have to run stock
AP2 suspension geometry for less rear bump steer
AP2 steering wheel
Yeah yeah, the AP2 engine is easier to loaf around town with but when you're really on the throttle there is nothing better than VTEC from 6k to 9k. The AP1 edge-to-edge tachometer is superior. And the AP1 engine sounds better, especially with an aftermarket exhaust.
I end up getting coilovers, wheels, and exhaust for either model, so those aren't factors.

I may be crazy, but I've got friend who has a ap1 (03) he has Cai,exhaust, header. Seems like my 08 S is right there with him all the way until about 100 and he'll pull half car. My car is stock? Idk, either bolt ons are a waste or the newer S is just that much more peppy.

Oh, thanks for the heads up makes sense then. A lot of people always think I'm lying when I say its stock. I'd just assumed they'd never actually been in one and were just hating.
