Default Bumper help!!!

I'm trying to take the bumper off to see how a set of lights would look and DAM! Talk about a tight fitting bumper. To take the bumper of my del sol all you had to do is loosen a few bolts here and there and it came right off.

I have all the right bolts off but there is this one last thingy. the bumper is help on by a weird clip up by the light housings. there

I`ve taken mine off a few times and can`t remember that clip for the life of me. Mine was very very easy.

I`ll go out and take a look at it.

Basically next to the light housings by the wheel well the bumper slides between 2 metal holders. Looking at it from behind the bumper the bottom piece has a metal piece that comes up. The bumper has a little catcher for it that locks it in. I have no idea how to get it out so I cant take the bumper off.

This is on a 2001 model.

you got the screw in the wheel well that mates the bumper to the fender, right?

Ya, this item is about 3 inches from the area where that screw is. I looked at it again, the bumper is definanly locked at this spot. I dont understand why Honda did this.

Besides the 9 or so bolts under the bumper you have five or so screws at the leading edge of the hood and then one phillips head screw located in each wheel well. As far as I know the design has not changed on the '01's. There are clips at the each corner. A nice tug will bring the cap right off.

Takes me about three minutes max now.

Yes. That's the secret......you have to be very brave, and pull the bumper outwards with some force - then it'll unsnap. Putting it back on is relatively straightforward, although it's much easier if you can get someone to hold up one side for you as you hook the other side back in place. When you're reinstalling the bumper, make sure you tuck the front lower edge of the fenderwell in behind the bumper, before hooking the bumper on. If you forget to do this, you'll have to take the bumper off again.
