Default Burning Plastic Smell?

On Saturday I noticed a burning plastic smell while driving. I assumed I picked up a plastic bag or something and it got stuck to my exhaust. But I looked and didn't see anything. Even more strange is that it smells like it is coming from my right rear rotor area. Any idea what this could be? It is still doing it which worries me but I can't find anything that is rubbing on the exhaust or that could be burning.

I had a similar problem and I couldn't figure where in the rear fenderwell it was coming from. A few more weeks went by and my hub bearing went out. If you start hearing a squeak that keeps getting louder as the days go by, take a look at it.

Good luck.

Hmm, that's definitely where it seems to be coming from but the car doesn't even have 8K miles on it. I will watch out for any strange noises though.

I too experienced this... I got my car back from the paint shop, and figured it was that something had fallen on my rotors. Coming from my right rear... went away after awhile less then 12k miles when i noticed it

If it walks and talks like a duck, then it probably is a duck... If it smells like burning plastic, then it probably is burning plastic...

Check the cat. Plastic bags blowing around on the road do a number on the cat and it takes a while for it to go away. It might be hard to see.

....... thats exactly what happened to mine..... the bag melts instantly to the car so the only way to actually see if it IS there is to get under the car.
