Default Buying an S2000 with a "piston slap" issue.

Hey guys,

I am currently looking to purchase my first s2k. I have located one with low mileage(85k) and a good price with one caveat: it recently started to have a piston slap issue, according to him. The owner says that it goes away above 2k and once you're at operating temperature. Drive it for 10 minutes and it is very faint at idle. He said he opened the pan and inspected the bearings and crank, and there is no metal shavings in the oil.

Here's a video on cold start? https://picmsg.co/mms/449/xyQyc0.mp4

Using the search function it seems like it is not a big deal. What do you guys think? A little nervous to say the least.

Thanks!

I am guessing that you have planned in your offer price for a replacement engine?

Piston slap is not uncommon and basically harmless. There are several ways to minimize if but why buy a car with it?

Not sure what the asking price is but unless you're getting it for virtually free I'd pass.

Plan to have enough funds for a new engine if you do buy it...

Personally, I'd buy it for maybe $6k and then build it I wouldn't pay more than that.
