is cabin Louder with Hardtop?
Is the cabin LOUDER with the Hardop as opposed to the soft top?

More engine noise, less wind noise.

I wouldnt say louder a little on the boomy side maybe but not loud.

I have a cat-back exhaust which has a loud droning sound. I'm wondering if this is going to be amplified by a hardtop...
|
I just installed a HT on my MY02 and I'd say it lessens the droning of the exhaust, wind noise, and engine noise:thumbup:
It also enhances the sound of the stereo which seems to have a little more bass:thumbup: I highly recommend this for the winter months which is what I'm using it for. JMHO. |

That's awesome. Have you done anything else to reduce the droning? It's fine top down but top up it's killer
|
Maybe a layer or two of dynamat would help on the hardtop to reduce noise.

I still have yet to try this but plan to this week. It's my theory that the majority droning/resonation noise comes from the rear tray behind the roll hoops as it's an open hole to the underside of the car.
Lining the hardtop may reduce some exterior noise but I think it will do more harm (in terms of weight when lifting it onto the car) than good. The OEM hardtop is already lined to some extent whereas the rear tray is a flat sheet of vibrating plastic. Just a theory. |
