Is CF that strong like they say!!!
The subject of Carbon fiber has been very hot this day's with everybody asking lot's of question. As in threads about how strong it can be and stuff like that.
Well here is a pic than can show how strong and resistant it can be. I have gone up to 3 persons on it, I'm going to try 4 and post another pic. http://www.undergroundivison.com/fuz/sss.jpg |
so the hood didn't deform in any way?
if the hood *gave*/deformed a little, the engine would be supporting all the weight ... ? |

The hood does bend a bit inward but once off the hood, the hood takes back it's place. I even stood myself on the bottom part of the hood, ( where you air box is) and since i have a CAI well it's hallow inder it, and it stood the downforce.. One more reason to love CF, can bend it... |
Looks dangerous, I would never do that, but "props" anyways :p

Yeah CF is strong, but you can rarely find a part that is full carbon and that is where the strength is. Very sturdy hoods though.

CF, like Fiberglass, is stronger than steel per unit density until it hits its threashold..then is snaps like a cracker.
Thus, no impact absorbtion... Its a trade off IMHO |
Have you ever seen what CF does when it reaches its threshold? It just doesn't crack, but comes apart with some force.
|
Would you not scratch the shit out of the clear coat on the carbon fibre by standing on it like that?
