Default CoilOver Suspension Debate

Ok... after reading all the previous postings on the Bilstien PSS9 and Tien RA. I have come to a conclusion that the Bilstiens are Better for Daily Driving and fewer track days per/year. Tien RA is better for Track and fewer daily driving days. What i am confused at is... which is better overall. My style of driving is spirited with the occasional mountain driving and Highway 1 visits. I have not been to any track events but plan to in the near future but again.. only a few times a year. My S is practilly a daily driven car. I don't mind a firmer ride... Any input and all input will be and IS greaty appriciated. Thanks.

Tein RA imo more track oriented... I like a firmer ride... and if you do alot of spiritied driving and plan on attending lapping days... I'd go for the more aggressive set. I went through 3 sets of coiovers on my DC5... Started out with Tein SS.... too soft the nI went to JIC FLT-A2 very good set but wanted it even more aggressive so then I went with Buddyclub P1. If you dont mind a firmer ride.. I'd go all out if road condidiont permits that is heh

I've run Tein RAs on the street and track and I never could figure out why people complained about them on the street. Well I guess if you can't avoid hitting every single pothole on your morning commute they'd be bad....

In any case, now that my car rarely sees use on public roads I'm still incredibly happy with them as a track only suspension. There's better ones out there, but I do quite well with the RAs.

funny u mention these 2 sets.

i have both of these right now and i am in a big debate of which one to keep. had the RA's on last month had them on for about 8 months, i have had the PSS9's on for a month and i am really debating dumping the PSS9's. i do love how soft the PSS9's are on the street, my passengers appreciate it, and so do i when i just want to chill. but more often than not, i want to DRIVE, and these things need more correction and caution than my RA's did.

i have a daily commute over a canyon road, in my RA's i felt pretty confident on many of the twisties. since i have swapped my suspension, it has been really suspect. please note, i am not a professional driver, nor do i even claim to be a good driver, so my credibility is up to you. but i do know my car and how it feels, and with the PSS9's i have to be a little more careful. another instance is this onramp onto the 405 S, it is like a big u-turn type entrance. on stock suspension i could take it at about ~42, teins ~50, pss9 ~37(wtf???).

although i do give the pss9 this. it responds back to me, by that i mean the back of the car will start to slide out gradually, and i know i have to let up a little bit before i actually spin out, so i don't know if this is a good thing or not. the teins, they gripped the road like no other, but when you reach its limit, there is no warning it just goes full sideways which has happened to me a couple of times.

mind you, i still have not had time to mess with my settings and ride height on the pss9 yet, i been busy lately. i will do it next week when i have a day off and re-evaluate, but i don't think i am going to match the handling of the RA, sad to say, because i really like the construction of the pss9 vs the RA, but the RA is light as sh1t.

i really want to find a reason to keep the pss9, but if i don't see improvements, i am selling it to someone who wants them. apparently people on this board are very pleased with this kit. i really like it too, but coming from the RA makes it hard to like.

why did i dump the RA, i just thought it was too stiff for the street. if i lived in like oklahoma maybe i would keep them, but i live in LA California, and we got some vicious potholes and speedbumps, and daily driving the RA got me a little tired after a while.

anyone know if i can get a 420lb spring for my pss9, i predict that will give me the best of both worlds of comfort/handling and might solve some of my problem with it.

peace.
mark d.

I personally think the RAs are fine for daily driving. But then I haven't drove the car with other suspension setups.

you know what, on the freeway it was fine for me, it was in the city and on the rough roads and potholes and all, it wore me down man. the bilsteins are more comfy in these areas, but i guess you give up your cornering ability, so pick ur poison if you see it that way.

i am noticing that people have a different opinion of the RA's, some like the daily driving ability of it, some don't, so to the original poster, if you can handle a stiffer ride like some can you should go for the RA's hell, i might go back to them myself.
