Compliments on your S2k
Yeah pretty much the same in houston, I live in the slightly nicer area and there is a few around here. I do get compliments (mostly outta town) and it does feel good. Then again I get a lot of dirty looks (frkinz imforts) and houston consist of mostly truck owners. So i usually get, "y u in a car and not lifted pickup with camo all over it" my response: "I dont work on a farm, if I want to go offroading I take an actual offroading vehicle and not a work horse, and I like it?"
every now and again. i get more stares than anything. usually at gas stations. guy came up to me and said nice car. i said thanks. than he hits me with "honda really knew what they were doing when they made a sports car". i was a little shocked as most people dont know what it is. just laughed and told him "yea they did"
The compliments I get on the S2000 are out of all proportion to its cost. There is one question that I get with a surprising frequency, and I laugh every time I'm asked, "Does it get good mileage?" I always explain that its raison d'être is fun, not MPG. Most get it.

I've had co-workers check my car at work and say it was cool. As far a random comments while out driving, I have only recieved one and not sure if it even counts. Two high school kids said "Hey, nice car bro" as I drove by.
I get some odd ones from time to time, one young kid asked if it was an electric car ?, lol. I get a lot of people who can't believe the car is 10 years old, they are usually amazed on the condition of the car. I try not to drive the car around my clients, I've heard the comment that perhaps they are paying me too much when they see the car, they all think the car is worth a hundred grand or something crazy like that, I try to explain to them that you can buy the things for lunch money these days, but they just don't understand.

and said its one of the coolest cars they've seen
