HELL NO, you are crazy if you make that trade. If you want to save money then I understand but other than that you will be kicking yourself in the nuts every time you jump into the s2k.

Its all preference, some people just like the power, some like to be nimble for those the s2000 if an amazing choice. IMO horsepower get boring faster than the light cornering feel.

I second this ; I had a 500whp+ S2000 (I know it's not a Z06) last year and it was fun for a month, then the urge for another stock S hit hard and I got rid of it. As slow as a stock S may be, I find it much more enjoyable than triple the power.

It sounds to me like you need a compromise. LSx powered S2000!!!! Everyone wins!

Kidding.

I love the C6 Z06's. Honestly, it's the best looking vette since the 63-66 generation. I love the flaired fenders and the performance is on another planet from pretty much anything you'll encounter on the street. Vette's are also great track cars.

I do agree with you that the performance envelope of the Z06 is downright scary. I've driven some 500hp C5 Z06's at HPDE and track events and the cars are pretty insane. As a matter of fact, testicular fortitude is even a limiter for me on the track in my S2000.

People can go nuts wringing their hands over 0-60's, quarter mile times, which cars they should own and how those cars should be modified. I guess that's part of the fun.

Ultimately, I think with either decision you win.

Interesting opinions so far. I do miss having a convertible because from November through April here in Florida, the weather is perfect for it. Plus I never really use the power of the Z on the street. A quick burst is fun every now and then, but after a brief 2nd gear pull, I'm going 90mph...I kinda just miss having something fun and nimble to throw around, not to mention S2000 interior quality is leaps and bounds better than the Z06. It's also nice being able to punch it every now and then without worrying about ending up double or triple the speed limit...lol. But then again, there's something completely badass about driving a fiberglass coffin with an aluminum 427 making that much power and still getting almost 30mpg on the highway to boot.

As others said.. if you're itching for an s2k that might be the only way to go. If you're too nervous/scared to track your z06 (which is understandable, although you can just start slow), then get an s2k and track that. I will say, driving on the track is a whole different level of enjoyment/fun, as you can actually push the car in a safe manner. Driving on the street is boring for the most part, with brief moments of fun when you can push the car to 5/10ths. The s2k is a very capable track car. It's certainly no high powered z06, but you'd have to have a steel pair to really push the limits of a modded z06 imo.

I think a lot of folks missed out on this line. I'd take an s2k that I'd actually do HPDE's with over a z06 that sat in my garage any day of the week. S2k's are slow in a straight line (relative to many cars), but you'll find that at the track they are very capable and a heckuva lot of fun. I can understand your concern about tracking your car, as approaching a concrete wall in front of you going 150+ mph is very different than just going fast on the highway with limitless run off room. The most common question is "how fast do you go on track?" The absolute speed isn't the scary part about the track, it's the walls everywhere. As the saying goes.. it's more fun to drive a slower car fast than a faster car slow.

Now, if you just wanna drag race, hardpark, or bench race your friends.. I'd say keep the z06 no question.

Lol @ S2k being slow. After driving a Civic for so long the S feels like a Ferrari

I would keep the Z06. Its better at everything! It just doesn't look as good or is it as rare as an S2000. But that's just my opinion.
