Default Criagslist and s2000's...

So as some of you may or may not know, I am selling my s2000 for something with some more room and hopefully still some fun. Just now I got this text:

"Ay bro would you trade your s2k for a 1994 civic si hatch, low milage"

I don't know why people even bother asking things like that on craigslist, maybe he thinks it's funny, or maybe he was serious. I'm sure he was trying to be funny.

Another thing that bothers me is just because I drive a honda doesn't mean I use the words "hella" "flush" "JDM" "Bro" or great people with "ay." Nor do I enjoy hellaflush/stance nation or want to "stance my car bro!" (if that's your thing, fine. I personally think it's a waste of a great handling car)

I replied telling him no, unless he wants to put a lot of cash on top of his car. He goes on to ask me why my car is so expensive as if he were originally asking for a fair trade. When I told him he says "Oh okay bro never mind then ?" Don't know if this is just craigslist, or if it's a honda thing. Either way it's annoying.

/Rant

Lol its a mix between both.
And he probably was serious, As alot of civic owners think their cars worth more than it actually is.
And this is coming from a civic owner myself

LOL Craigslist buyers in general are flakes, dreamers and truly the most off the wall people you will ever "virtually" meet!

Playing Devil's Advocate I have sold a lot of things and met some really nice people on Craigslist too (selling things OTHER than car parts).

I'd have to agree, I've sold a ton of random items on craigslist and the buyers are usually really nice. I've even stood around talking to a guy because we had a similar job. The only time I have a problem with craigslist is when I try to sell a car...

One thing ive managed to do is when I go to sell a car, add a link to a vid of the same car.
In the vid, not only do I talk about the car, I explain the price, how negotiable it is, etc, and not to come look at the car unless you have the means to buy it, Or something similar.
Ever since then, Ive had ALOT less flakers. Lowballers seem to stick around tho.
I think the only time you deserved to be lowballed is if your selling a salvaged car to near the price of a clean.

i buy and sell things on craigslist ALL the time. not for business but for personal stuff. cell phones, macbook, tv, video games, electric bike, whatever. and also have had my share of selling and buying cars over the years and let me tell you.. based on my personal experience in real life and just what you read on message boards like honda tech, the civic crowd is the WORST. I dont know what it is about that scene or that car but it attracts like 18-26 year old high school drop out type or felon and criminals. I'm probably super biased and I actually don't mean what i say 100% but GENERALLY speaking, even on honda tech you get a lot more immature types and more behavior and attitude that's associated with gangs or criminal activity. I was almost turned away from the S2k because i didn't want to deal with a community that was like that. I'd say it's better than I expected with the S2k community, more mature and older owners.
You would think that at the similar price range of under $4k-5k that the mustang enthusiasts and owners would act the same way but they don't so it's not the price range of the car. It's the culture behind the civic scene.

All my personal opinion and probably heavily influenced by where I live but there is no shortage of riced out beater civics and crxs around here in LA so perhaps the nice and standup civic owners are being diluted by the assholes and low lives.

I was in the same boat as you, sir! I was dissuaded from getting an s2k because I'm sure I would get crap for it and what not. Surprisingly not, but I do just keep to myself and not try to race with people or whatever else (though people have definitely tried to!) I also really do enjoy this forum as it seems, for whatever reason, to attract and promote more discussion rather than the arguing. I know a very stand up civic owner, but like you said, of the one I know there are 20 others out there doing their thing.
