Dealer puts 5 miles on the car during the spark plug TSB...

So what reason could they possibly have?? Any honda mechanics out there have a clue?

I just had mine done for the spark plugs and there were no miles put on. They drove it from the dealer driveway into the repair shop and then back out. Maybe .1 mile at most.

Sounds to me like the mechanic wanted to take it out for a spin.

I just got mine back from a three day stay at the dealer's. They replaced the driver's window regulator, the clutch , the spark plugs and a rubber seal just in front of the windshield, under the hood. When I got it back, they had put 13.8 miles on it for me.

So what's the big deal? I'm glad that they test drove mine to make sure that everything is working OK.

If anyone is wondering about TSB 054, just do it. My car is so quiet, it's spooky. This is wonderful. :D

i was worried about them driving my car to, but they didn't. the big deal to me leting someone drive your car without being there especially at the dealer, is because my friend use to work there. my friend said when he use to gas up the s2000 before the person picked it up, he or who ever drove the car to get the gas beat the sh*t out of it. yes that is v teching the crap with under 600. try more like 5 to like 20 miles.:( that is why i don't like taking my car to the dealer. they have no respect for peoples hard earned values. try not think about what they could have done with that 5 mystery miles. just enjoy the car have fun.

I wouldnt' fret it airgate, but that's my take. here's another issue you should ponder, with cold hard evidence. if you can add realistic options for S2KDDS, it would be much appreciated.

airsport,

The mechanic may have enjoyed a test drive, but when he was in control of the car any damage would be his fault. 5 miles to make sure all 4 spark plugs work and the car is performing, keeps the dealership liable for any problems. I hope he had the best interest in mind when driving your S 2000, however IMO you would have seen any problems by now.

The mechanic probably had a great time, and most likely wanted to feel the VTEC.

Just an observation, if you posted about the miles put on the car, I would think the people at that honda dealership knew you were watching you car like a hawk, and would report any problems...

My .02

If I worked on other Honda's, program cars, or other imports and domestics, just the chance to drive the S 2000, would make me think twice about pushing the S to a limit. I think he had the best intentions in mind with dealing with your S2000.

I just had mine done. Because of all these "joyride" threads, I took note of the mileage and asked if they would need to drive it for any reason. I was told that a 5-mile test drive is customary. Because they were upfront about it, I was happy with that. Sure enough, when I picked it up, my odo was higher by exactly 5 miles. So no complaints here. In fact, the customer service was outstanding. Only one person at this dealership is allowed to work on/drive the S2000...and he understands completely that we are not your everyday Civic owner. He babied my car. Two :thumbup: !!
