Didnt some of the older my2000 come without the wind deflector? i have never seen one without.

From the FAQ's: The wind deflector was an option in 2000 and became standard in 2001.

mine did not come with one (previous owner removed it) but since I have a hardtop that I never remove I just put a camera mount in its place.

No holes in the lids of the 2000. You had to drill them. All others had holes and windscreens installed at one time or another.
