Default Does first gear have a lockout?

Hi. When I shift from 2nd to 3rd, I find shifting feels best when I go just barely to the right of straight up. However, I don't want to misshift from 2nd to 1st when I am looking for 3rd.

Does 1st gear have a lockout? If I am going say, 25 mph, will it be impossible to put it in 1st gear when I really want 3rd?

No lockout that I know of. You can go into 1st at 25 mph or any speed I believe. The H pattern is exaggerated. Straight up, slightly to the right then straght up. It's all instinct, If you think about what your doing, then you probably will not mis-shift. Although when your racing hard and in the zone, you might not even think too much about shifting, it's just instinct, you just do it.

As long as you know where 3rd gear is and you are comfortable with your shifting, with just a little bit of concentration you will do just fine.

2nd and 3rd gear are in the centre - let the gearstick centre itself before shifting and there is no problem.

I don't think there's a hard lock-out on first, but I've found it extremely difficult to get down into first at anything above like 10 mph. I don't think you should worry about it much.

Double-clutch.

One thing about driving a '92 Accord w/250,000 miles on it is you do yourself a favor by matching revs. It is about the only way I can get into first on a roll.

it feels like first has a lockout but that's not the case. if you rev match, the shifter will slide in easily into first gear.
