Is it true, does insurance cost more on a Yellow S2000 than on a Black one?

I've never had an insurance company even ask what color my car was. I've never heard of one that bases their rates on color.

I was just talking to a co-waorker about the expected insurance cost on an S2000. He related that when he was in California, some insurance companies had a "color" cost factor. It seems Red is a sports car color. go figure.

My insurance company charges more for red sports cars. But if the same car is black or silver, you get a cheaper rate. I don't understand why, it's just the color of you car.

Allstate does... the theory is Yellow and Red attract more attention from police. I say find another insurance company.

Why would some insurance companies care how much attention your car gets from police? That doesn't affect them. If anything, the brighter colors make the car more visible and less likely to go unseen in inclement weather and less likely for other people to hit.

I don't know wickerbill, I'm just repeating what Allstate explained to me, when the premium for my old 01 Spa Yellow S2000 was a bit higher than normal...

I've never had Farmers or State Farm ask what color my car was. I guess Allstate's found another way to increase revenue without taking on any more risk.
