Yeah, ran into a tree at 80. But he doesn't even really remember exactly how fast. That is what the police told him. He just woke up in the hospital not knowing what had happened.

Judging by the quick glance I had at the pics, I would go as far as to say the car was traveling a Minimum speed of 95 mph laterally when it hit the tree. It took a TREMENDOUS amount of impact to fold up that S2000. This is by far, without a doubt, The heaviest impact I have seen from a S2000 posted on this site. Had there been a passenger in the car upon impact, it could have been devastating.

I would have to say this was the drivers lucky day, he or she could have easily lost their life.

Lets face the reality, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed. We all know what can happen in our own cars when driving at high speeds. Sometimes we take risks. I am no different, I have been fascinated with racing cars and into racing my whole life. I have taken a chance here and there, I think a lot of us have done so at one time or another. Sometimes we have to think about the surrounding environment around us when contemplating pushing the limits. These things are NOT racecars. No racing harness, roll bar, (factory roll hoops don't count) helmet, gloves, nomex underwear, flame retardant suit and many other items used on racing cars.

I think there is a little bit more to do with this than just the tires. I mean, the first two words of this thread are "Don't Speed"

Thats all :)

Be careful peeps and have fun, you only live once
