Doug DeMuro S2000 Review

I also wonder if, living on the East Coast, he's trying to get as many of these filmed as he can before the weather turns sour. He's not going to get to drive a 918 Spyder or F40 in January anywhere near where he lives.

I have to agree regarding the slow comments meaning the car being misunderstood. The best part of the S is the handling and that's what he found fantastic. A car simply can't be all things, there's going to be negatives. That said the S is still no slouch in this day and age. A 17 year old AP1 can still beat a 2018 Brz off the line and I don't think any other 2.0l 4 cyl even today has matching HP without a turbo. His "Doug score" seems to be fairly arbitrary as well, I think the $800k Porsche 918 scored a 6 in "value" if I'm not mistaken. I can definitely be a biased toward the S in these kinds of things but I think the items he pointed out are not necessary the downfalls of the S.

I think he should have factored depreciation into the value. I made money on mine after putting 23k on it over 3.5 years. I'd say that's pretty darn good value even if you have to shell out more upfront than you might expect for an old Japanese 4-cyl roadster. I'd rather buy a $20k car that loses no value than a $15k one that depreciates to $10k.

How much do you expect to learn from a reviewer about a car you already own? Doug is more on the entertainment side of things, but I like how he goes through the quirks of the cars and doesn't pretend to be a race car driver giving you a ton of driving impressions that may or may not be garbage.

I like his reviews of more oddball cars. More normal cars even some of the exotics just leave me wondering why he bothered. This one was particularly sad. It looked like he was just driving it around town which is were the S is pretty boring. He needed some of the back roads I have seen him on in some of the other videos he has done. Really disappointed about missing a lot of things and misinforming on others like the AC setting (nothing comes from behind you). The fact he didn't talk about the engine was a miss as well. Oh well. Maybe it will keep the S a little more of a secret.

I used to follow Demuro on Jalopnik but have not really bothered since he left, this review was really really disappointing and half baked on the information side.
At least he liked driving it for the most part.
