The downside of a test pipe

I love the improvements of my Skunk2 test pipe, but the unfiltered exhaust turns my tips a yellowish gold color. it will scrub off; but it's annoying.

anyone figured out a way to keep the carbon from sticking to the tips?

Denatured alcohol cleans the metal really well. If you keep up on it and do it once a week you shouldn't have any issues.

Any wheel cleaner will cut through it like butter. It comes off ridiculously easy. i've also used simple green and grease lightning (lol?) without any negetive effects. With any of these, you won't have to scrubs.. the crap will just drip right off and come clean with a single wipe. As for preventing it in the first place.. good luck.

Try Never Dull as well. Works great.

+1 on Simple Green.

Putting a coat of polish/wax on the rims helps keep brake dust at bay...
I wonder if it would do the same for your exhaust??? Just a thought.

can't wait until the weather turns warm so i can take my test pipe off.. it smells.. make the car louder than needed.. and no power gain....

worthless mod unless you have other mods..

No power gain?? What are you talking about? Not a big gain but definitely the best bang for buck mod for this car in power. Easy 6whp or so with just a test pipe.

vtec9 12-22-2008 09:54 AM

yuh TP gives a small gain. I also like the noise.. and I don't smell it at all anymore :) I know other people do, but I dun't care.

The power gains are small because Honda uses a high-flow, metal honeycomb catalyzer instead of the conventional, cheaper, ceramic catalyzer. As far as smell, I can smell a car without a catalytic converter from a good ways off. It is a good way to make a nice car seem cheap.
