Thats pretty cool.. personally, I would have maintained traction, late apexed that corner and would have been a couple car lengths ahead of him exiting the corner

Absolutely correct...it's just for fun. And it takes a bit of skill to master the technique...it shows that Perry is a good driver. But it's never the fastest, just fun.
Now drifting in rally cars GT3-style...man, that is a blast!

You are right. But, if you are running crap street tires and didn't have enpugh racing tire for the track day. drifting is the next best thing you can do other than fast lap time.
I just got another set of A032R 2 weeks ago. Let me tell ya, the car is alive again.
