Driving the S in rain ...

In light of this rainy summer we are having, need some advice. Have had the car
under 3 days and had to drive in heavy rain this morning. I did not drive more
than 60mph on the highway ......... :p

First off, I would say... if it is raining, don't "drive it like you stole it"

haha... other than that, I make sure to keep the RPMs low, and keep your foot of the gas during turns (I try not to accel unless I am in a straight line), Call me paranoid, but I've had my S for 6 months now, and I haven't had any incidents in the rain.... knock on wood

Since your coming from a FWD prelude.

DONT forget its a RWD car.

DO take turns at slower speeds

DONT underestimate the power

DO find a nice empty parking lot and play!

I'm a recent S2000 owner who also switched from a Prelude and FWD cars. All you have to remember with the S2000 is to be VERY smooth and gradual on the throttle when accelerating out of a turn - This is true in the dry, but especially true in the rain.

just be more observant and careful while driving in the rain. be ready to make a quick maneuver at anytime and you will be fine.

DO just to be safe leave the S at home and drive that CRV!

First rain storm I got caught in was a gully washer. Next thing I knew, traffic was down to 35 mph on an Interstate, with the wipers on full speed and still couldn't see a thing. The car did just fine.

Like everyone's already said, drive carefully. Use a heavy dose of common sense. If you don't have any of that, please sell the car to someone who does! ;)

If you can follow the suggestions already listed, you shouldn't have any problems.

Oh yeah, I'm pleased to announce that the inside of my car stayed perfectly dry in that down pour. It's the first time I've ever experienced that in a convertible, especially in that hard a rain storm.

Good luck & Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Seriously about the open parking lot though, It is a good idea to take it out and just see what it can/will do. And good practice on how to counter a situation that could and possibly will happen that way if it does happen on the roads, you will be some what comfortable and you will know exactly what to do in the event...

yeah listen to what everyone said about not accelerating when making a turn when the road is wet. I learned the hard way I was making a left turn and tapped the throttle a little too much next thing you know my car spins out and i'm facing traffic. I learned from that immediately and drive much safer these days. Good thing was not a scratch was on the car from that incident.

drive like your grandmother and you should be alright :)
no sudden throttle, steering, brake inputs...drive like there are egg shells underneath the pedals :)
