exhaust install
Will a honda dealer install the Neuspeed exhaust I just got? BTW, thanks Mingster, the exhaust looks great, I can't wait to put it on.
|
I'm sure they will but why would you want them to? They'll probably charge you $100 for the labor then you will have to figure out how to get the stock exhaust home. It's 3 bolts from the cat to the exhaust piping. Jack up the car put it on stands, use some WD40 or equivalent and away you go.

Not the Honda dealer. If you don't want to install it yourself, try a muffler shop or an independant Honda repair shop.
|
you think a relatively average person like myself could change the exhaust?
|
about how long would it take for me to change it and what tools would I need? Thanks
|
Eric, you could do it yourself but probably better with a friend. The stock exhaust is heavy and awkward to move while lying on your back. You will need torque wrench and if I remember right a 1.25mm socket. Of course Jack Stands and a jack. You can reuse the all the hangers, nuts, bolts, and gaskets as long as you don't strip/rip them. Since it's your first time I would guess about an hour to do

I should add that some people have had problems stripping the bolt so it might be better to go to Honda and buy a spare (can't be that much) before you start. Just to cover your ass.

You can also call your local speed shop folks and ask them who they use. (in other words call somebody who SELLS these and ask them to install it.
I got lucky and got a guy with a S2k himself. I was right there the whole time and with some liquid wrench or breakfree it is no prob removing those bolts. Just be patient. We used the hangers that came with the neuspeed. It takes awhile to adust them. If your like most, youll have to turn the passenger side muffler a bit to get the pipes even in the back. We spent alot of time trying to fix that, but I have come to the conclusion that it is just the way they are made. BTW it will still look great and is not noticeable probably to anyone but you. :D Enjoy waking those sleepy neighbors  |
After stripping one bolt, I decided to have a muffler shop do the install. They charged $50 or $60 to swap them out.

I paid the import shop across the street $ 50 to install my HKS today. An hour later I'm in auditiory heaven:D
