Explaination of MY04 Dyno ?
I remember reading a magazine article around 2 years ago about the Type V S2000. In the article they stated that it would only be offered in Japan. The differences in the Type V over the standard S were among aother things, active steering (like on the new BMW 5) that has a quicker ratio at lower speeds than it does at higher, if I remember correctly it was like 1.5 turns lock to lock. Well it also had a 2.2 liter four which made 270 hp. Did they simply use this engine in the MY04 and under rate it, because if my math is right 240 hps plus 26 hps after drivetrain losses, which would if calculated out would put it right around 30 hps at the fly wheel, so 240 + 30 = 270!! Or in other words what the MY04 makes with the "new" 2.2 liter. Just a thought.

Sounds like this guy skipped class the day they taught "logic thinking skills"

I think this guy skipped every class

You guys are way too cool:thumbup:
:whome: boxsterb1 there is a different model S in Japan called the VGS with steering setup as you described however it is still a 2L. Not too sure what you are talking about with the hp biz. |
correct, the Type V did have the 2L....however, i do believe it was rated a little higher....248HP rings a bell.

japanese s2000's have more horsepower due to a higher compression ratio
|
Don't think they used a different engine from the 2.0L in N America with the original S. But the Type V did/does have enhancements to the steering charateristics.

the f20c(not f20c1) is found in all jdm s2000's. the f20c has higher compression due to slightly more aggressive pistons making 247-248 hp. they have higher compression b/c they have access to higher octane gasoline.
