first gear clunk two questions
 

i just bought it last week and am learning things about the car...

when starting from a start you drop the shifter into 1st and there is a small clunk sound and feeling... is this normal?

also i know this is a noob question but i have a hard time launching the car, is this due to traction control? how do you launch quickly?

Do you mean you have the car on and put it into gear and car hear something when you put it into gear? In my rsx (when the car is off) if you push the clutch and cahnge 1st 2nd 3rd etc you can hear a noise. Im guessing it makes the same noise when the cars on i just cant hear it over the engine.

first thing to learn about this car is that it makes noises. some hate it, some love it (me). your first gear clunk is most likely nothing major. does it do it every time you put it in 1st? have you checked/changed the trans fluid? its not that hard to do, just need your own tools. if you look in the "under the hood" section, they should have a DIY on the issue.

yes it's every time i shift into first, sometimes 3rd too...

I'm sure that your problem launching the car has nothing to do with traction control.

i heard that the AP2 has something added by Honda to prevent hard launches

It's called the CDV (clutch delay valve). There's a way to remove it, do a search and you'll find it.
