Take the heart from an AP1 mix in some Mazda MX-5, a dash of RX-8, and the shell of a Triumph TR6 for taste.

Is that a shell, or a chassis, or both.
If it is a TR6 chassis & you give it good grip, I would be very careful to build up to high performance around corners.
Great fun but not the most rigid of platforms, I think you might have to do a fair bit of stiffening & tuning, to work out some vicious response to throttle input at higher cornering forces. This is one project where I think slow in, fast out is likely to be EXACTLY THE WRONG technique.
I have a 330 BHP 4.5L Rover V8 powered TR8. Getting the power in there, getting a gearbox, diff, & limited slip centre to handle it was actually the easy part. I raced Formula ones, before they sprouted wings, so snappy handling was not exactly new to me either.

We can expect S2000 engines going into different cars as more cars are totaled. More work than I'd attempt, but not a fan of this. The TR6 is a styling retrograde step after the T4/TR5/TR250 (Michelotti > Karmann), and 2491 curb weight before they added enough fiberglass to build a boat.
I've been seeing a TV commercial a lot recently featuring an MGA. One of those would be a more elegant starting point, if the motor would fit. IMHO, YMMV, etc.

This one here is interesting in how the F engine was taken out only to be replaced by a V6 from the NSX. All in the Family engine swap: NSX-Powered S2000 | DrivingEnthusiast.net
