Throttle cable.

No joke here. My car has ran like crap for two months. I couldn't figure it out. I thought I needed a new clutch, it idled poorly, and had a little hesitation when pulling out in first. The clutch rattle went away. I found this to be odd, but the rattle is GONE. When I shift the RPM's don't drop nearly as mutch. My car feels like it did when it was new. The cable was so loose. It had way too much slack. Best maintenance mod ever for me. Just thought I would share.:hello:

"The throttle cable is one of the easiest ways to get a little more response out of our cars.
Honda keeps extra slack in the cable for 'granny' drivers so they don't rear end people!
The rest of us on the other hand WANT that extra jump off the line! Here is how...
First get a set of wrenches to fit the two nuts.
Then loosen the locknut enough to when you pull the cable, their is about half as much slack.
Next, tighten the adjusting nut so the cable stays put.
Your all set! All you need to do is make sure the car does not idle any higher once warm."

Same here. I also adjusted the clutch pedal down 1/2" and got rid of the play in the brake pedal. :D

how did u adjust the clutch pedal?

Destiny2002 03-25-2003 03:14 PM

For the S2000, there should be 4-6 mm deflection when the throttle is at rest. You can also check that the throttle plate is fully open when somebody in the driver's seat pushes the pedal to the floor, if it is it shouldn't need adjusted.

Having everybody go out and take all the slack out of their throttle cable is not a good suggestion. This can cause other problems. Please note that an earlier post is NOT the proper adjustment for an S2000.

The proper procedure to adjust the cable is in the Helm manual under section 11.

OMG I can move my cable an inch total up and down! I guess a adjustment is in order eh? From what I see it looks "similar" to the picture above so if that isn't correct, what is the correct method (Destiny)?

Thanks for the help
