Going in for 60K service
Im taking my S in for its 60K service, and I have read about some nightmare prices at dealerships. Clawson Honda quoted me $415 for everything. Does this sound right to you guys? How much money will I save by bringing my own diff fluid, brake fluid, and transmission fluid? Also, any other parts I may be able to save on by providing myself? Let me know what you guys think, I'm kind of new to this and your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a ton!

Get an itemized quote, and you'll have a better idea. Also, instead of simply dropping the car off and asking for the 60k mi reaming, read the manual and make your own list of what you want done, and see what you can do yourself. Compare the price quote between the 60K service and your list of 60k things that you need the dealer to do and see what the price difference is, and if the prices are lower.
I'm kind of hobbled in that I just moved to CA and live in an apt. I have no tools here and no way of lifting the car. (I miss home
) Self-service is out of the question for me. Just curious, because this is my first S, what exactly does the 60K service entail. I am at work and my manual is at home, so I'm lazy and don't want to wait to read it.

according to severe conditions per the manual all you need is:
tranny flush
diff flush
oil change and filter
you probably should flush your brake lines, and change the clutch fluid too.
buy the air filter and pollen filter over the counter for about $50 and change them yourself.
All the fluids and labor from the dealer should be $200. Buy your own syn oil and syn diff fluid and add about $25.
$415 is probably about the typical number. If you can't DIY, then you can't DIY. IMO, bringing in your own parts is a bonehead move. If you don't trust the mechanic doing the service work not to cheat you, find another mechanic.
