Got Pulled Over for Doing 93mph

Last night I was driving home from Trump's golf course in Palos Verdes- I'm driving North on the 110 and I look down at the speedo and think "Oh, shit, 93mph, I better slow down." At that moment, I glance up into the rear view mirror and see a car coming up fast.

The red light was only on for a millisecond before I was off the gas with my right turn signal on. As I exited the freeway, the cop was giving me some instructions over the loudspeaker, but I was so nervous I couldn't figure out how to turn down the music, so I didn't know what he was saying.

I got the music turned down and pulled over to the right after the exit. I turned off the lights, shut off the car, and realized that the windows were up. I quickly turned the key, put down the windows, turned off the key, and put my hands on top of the steering wheel.

As soon as I looked up, he was right there.

Cop: I stopped you for your excessive speed.
Me: Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I was going too fast.
Cop: Driver's licence and registration, please.
Me: I don't have it with me, but I know my driver's licence number.
The cop leaned in and took a whiff of my breath and inside the car.
I looked him right in the eye and told him the number.
Cop: What are you a doctor?
Me: Anesthesia.
Cop: Where do you work?
I told him.
Cop: I'm going to give you a verbal warning. You're just going home from work.
Me: Oh, thank you very much.
Cop: Slow it down a little.
Me: I will, thank you.

I wasn't coming home from work, and I'm not a doctor, I'm an anesthetist, and I was wearing the scrubs and stethoscope for this exact reason. I don't advocate fast driving on the streets, but sometimes if the road is clear, I might go over the speed limit.

Tonight I got away, but I don't think of the cop as a sucker. He paid me a professional courtesy, and after that I drove home within the speed limit [out of respect]. I would also repay the professional courtesy in the ER or OR, when I come across cops that need my help.

I drove home with a big smile on my face, and I'm going to keep wearing the scrubs. :D

Man, it's a good thing he didn't look in the secret compartment.

No. The red light I saw was the cop's light in my rear view mirror. :eek3:

I aspire to have your profession one day.

How was medical school? I've heard numerous times that the anesthesiology is probably one of the most competitive fields to get into.

he ought to not have shown you any courtesy for being in the medical field. if anything, medical people could easily pay the fine over someone who isn't. Merry Christmas, lucky man.

Were you at a wedding last night....

I Photograph for a past employeer for time to time... last night I shot a event
in newport beach and he as the Trumps place in PV

look into V1 or Escort X50..... more than anything he did not radar you
he was just watching the freeway with lights off....
I had a cop get on the freeway down in SD I saw him on the on ramp... I grabbed the Ebrake and 5th for a second just to slow to 65-70... he paced me for 3-4 miles... did not have enough time to get my speed... I got lucky for 95-100 :) :knockonwood:
