headlight brightness

i finally got my car back from the shop, among other things they replaced the driver side headlight. today i noticed that the new headlight is nowhere near as bright as the passenger one. i understand that the angle you look at the light will effect how bright it appears, so i tried adjusting the level. but it is still nowhere near as bright. you can tell when you look dead on at the headlight becuase you get the bright circle around the bulb, but on the new one i just get a dim ring. anybody have any idea what may cause this, or could it jsut be a bad headlight.

thanks

could be the wrong one!
if you are in a dark garage and if you see a difference in the light on each side youve got the wrong hid bulb (or i guess a short could also cause this, but a short should blow a fuse)

I've seen this happen on many cars when a HID is replaced. The new transformer isn't powering exactly the same as your other one. The transformers should both be replaced and I bet then it would be perfect. MAYBE, they will do that if you complain and show them.

I heard hid bulbs needs like a burn in period.
If after a week it still like that then you should do what the
guys suggest

I second this. There have been several threads on this subject. I had the same problem when one of my lights went out and was replaced under warranty. Light replaced was not only different brightness but a different shade of "blue".

Didnt remember the term "transformer" but rather "inverter" (but not 100% on this). Dealer replaced both bulbs and as I recall a bad "inverter"(?) and this corrected problem (uniform brightness and color again).

BTW brerspidur, I grew up in Richmond (West End). What part of town are you in?
