Default Helmets during regular driving

I was talking to a few friends who saw my S for the first time. Somehow, wearing my bright red helmet (Shoei RF-1000 for my bike) while driving my BB S2000 came up.
Top down, cruising through Westwood or the 405 (in LA), and looking hilarious with a mirror tinted visor blocking my face. Maybe even a bike jacket and gauntlets?
I told them that I'd only do it if a passenger came in and wore another one with me.

But then, I realized that I could be putting S drivers to shame. =(

What do you guys think? Maybe if everyone did it for a meet... just for fun. -_-; I don't know.

I noticed my last 2-3 threads were moved, as I had posted them in the wrong location. I'm hoping it won't be the case with this one -- but if it is, I apologize. O_O

i look at it like. if motorcyclist have to wear helmets because it saves lives than people who drive cars should have to wear them because they save lives.

i however have road around wearing my helmet for the fun of it.

Probably illegal, and it draws a lot of negative attention. Also, it cuts down on your ability to hear and see what's going on around you...which could lead to an easily avoidable accident.

Common (and rather annoying -- no offense) misconception about motorcycle helmets.

I also couldn't see it being illegal. No law about driving with a mask on -- conflicts with religion. The tinted-windows law's purpose is obvious, but conflicts with the freedom-of-religion amendment (yes, the first one). It's unreasonable to tell a woman who hides her face because of religion to keep it hidden at all times while driving.
I do recall, however, that a case went to the Supreme Court regarding taking a license picture without covering a woman's face conflicting with religion. The individual lost. Why? Safety of others over self. I hope I don't need to explain anymore than that.
On that note -- a helmet can be taken off to show identity when pulled over.

Can anyone shed light on this?

The "negative attention" bit, though, is the opinion I was looking for. =) Thanks.

I think street racing asshat ricers give the S2000 a much worse name than you'd ever give it wearing a helmet. Rock on!

What you mean like this?

Yeah, after doing that, I would recommend not doing it. Unless you enjoy mass amounts of puzzled stares and bus drivers asking you "who won?"

A couple guys in Fla got pulled over for doing this a few years back. It drew the negative attention and they got pulled over for it - not sure if it was illegal, sine you can see and hear fine in a motorcycle helmet, but it implies racing on the streets.

It's one thing to wear the helmet as a gag and because you want to.

I only hope some senator doesn't see it and think it'd be a good idea!
Look how long it's taken motorcyclists to wear helmets- and that IS a good idea for them!

If your shenanagins lead to all car drivers HAVING to wear head protection while driving we'll hate you forever!
