HELP! cant remove shift knob

i tried to remove a Voodoo knob from my '04 and absolutely can't break it loose... i used Blue lock-tight on the threads for installation as directed... it's a spun pearl aluminum so my grip slips a bit, but i'm torquing the shift bar appreciably without ANY give in the knob; i'm worried i'll destroy the linkage if i turn too much...

any advice???

does the panel around the shift boot come up so i can access the shft bar and immobilize to provide counter-torque??

thanks

i had the same issue with the loctite.

vise grips. get one under the boot to cover up blemishes and start twisting the crap out of it. the console should just pop out. just be gentle. i think there's 6? clips holding it down. just pry it off. good luck.

stupid question-- are vise grips a name-brand locking wrench or a type of wrench? should i just go to home depot and ask someone for vise grips?

it's like kleenex. i think it's a name brand or a name of a tool a company makes. they're technically locking wrenches, i guess. i'm sure home depot will know what vise grips are. good luck.

oh, and i probably wouldn't use loctite again when putting it back on, as you see what happens. i know other people with the same knob who didn't use loctite.

Wait! Before you use vice grips!

Get a piece of rubber or the like, and use it to help get traction. You can do this by hand. Also if you "snap" instead of constant pressure, it will release easier. You just need to break the seal, just like that JAM Jar.

Static Friction at its best.
