Help me decide. 08 S2000 or 04 E46 M3 coupe?

So it's been over 10 years since I last owned a S2000. I miss it. I have a E92 M3 that's a garage queen. I have $15k on hand. Never drove an E46 M3 but I like the size and looks. Sat in one but never drove one. My E92 is almost like a family sedan, so big. I saw a 08 LGB asking for $22 with 80k miles. Kind of high mileage. Saw a 07 LGB with only 28,000 miles asking for $25k. What would you guys choose and pay? E46 is way cheaper. Going to use it as a daily.

In that case you only have 1 choice.

Why wouldn't you just daily the E92?

E46 is the better daily by far. E92 is even better. Better to daily the BMWs and use the S as a weekend car.

Tsukuba,
It's a 09 with 16k miles. BMW said they won't make another V8 M3. I am trying to keep it as low miles as possible.

I had an E46, 325ci, the S2000 will be more reliable and a lot cheaper to fix.

Me, I stay away from used German cars. Especially used German performance cars.

I like to wrench, but not THAT much. Every little service you go to perform is just 10 times harder. It gets to where it isn't any fun.

So ask yourself which you would prefer driving on an everyday basis. For some, that sort of driving is mindless and they would rather just be comfortable, and with plenty of power under the immediate command of their foot (and reserve a car like the S for special drives or for weekend fun). For others, every drive, no matter how routine, can become a mini adventure behind the wheel of a car like the S.

Which are you?

The E46 is MASSIVE compared to the S2000.

And its a coupe.

And its a BMW.

So...its like almost the same as what you currently have.

You're looking for something different AND you miss your S2000.

But you're still debating whether you should get an E46 even despite the above. So maybe you have some hidden love for the E46.

Either car has decent resale value. Test drive both. Pick one. If you made the wrong choice, sell it and buy the other one. Life is easy AF, M8.

If you do decide on the e46, make sure to inspect the rear subframe for cracks.

I sold my E46 that had 125k miles for less than $3000 as I could not get any more for it. I purchased an S2000 recently with 82k miles for $17,500. A BMW does not hold any value!!!!

In 2003, I payed $35k new for the 325ci which was even more than a new S2000 and also another $4k in repairs. Family needs are more important than a 2 seat car.
