You dont have to pay someone to re-tap it. Go down to home depot and ask for a tap and die set at the rental shop...ask them for a 45 second tutor on it. Keep in mind, if you re-tap the hole, your probbly gonna need to go one size of screw bigger.
OR weld a nut on the back of the latch... which may require a longer screw.
OR get some self-taping screw a bit bigger then your hole ...

But what if the threads are stripped out? Then I wouldn't be able to put another screw back in...
Did you get it out yet?
The screws that are giving you a problem have liquid thread lock on them. Once you get them out make sure you thread lock the new ones in or they could vibrate out over time. In some applications where thread lock is used, heat has to be applied to remove the hardware or damage can result.
Like the others have said, tapping a hole is easy. Most tap kits have an index sheet that will help you determine the correct bit and tap size for the hole you are going to tap.

did you get this screw out?
Both of my screw got stripped, I used screw extractor, but the extractor broke and it got stuck in the screw...
I tried drilling the center, but it won't drill in b/c of the extractor.
Any other ideas besides cutting the bolt out with a dremel?

I dremeled the hell out of the bolt's head. Grinded if off completely.

Oh, I forgot to clarify my update.
I got the bolt unscrewed a little, and then it stripped completely.
Grinded the head, and I tried to unscrew it, but I guess it was stuck or something. I was playing with it a little, and then it just broke off from the inside.
So, yeah, the broken bolt and nut fell inside. But it's not making any rattle noise, so I guess it's all good.
Now I need to go but me a self tapping screw
