Hole in Soft Top

Yesterday I was driving with the top down and when I got home, I put the top up. While latching, I looked up and saw a small hole in the top. The hole is the size of a pencil tip. When I looked up I could see the outside. The hole is located pretty much where the first bar goes across if your coming back from the latch. It seems like the bar end of the bar bent out and the sharp edge kept hitting the top until it made a hole.

My car is a MY04 with 5,600 miles on it. I bought it in January with only 58 miles on it. So i still have the factory warranty and I also have Honda Care. Will they cover this under warranty. Would they just try to repair the top or should I be getting a new top.

Thanks

Well i just had a small wear in my softtop that the metal bar has been rubbing the inside. It developed into a small hole like yours. Mine is an 03 with 28k miles with 1 month left of basic warrenty. I took it to my dealer and they took a look over it and was willing to replace my soft top under warrenty. All this took only 10 minutes. Just tell them its a manufactor defect and don't act like you don't know if its covered or not.

Lets see if I take it to the dealer today and they are willing to replace it, I'm sure they would have to order the new top. I don't want to keep driving my car around because its my daily driver and I don't garage it. If it rains, the water could leak inside. Will they keep it at the dealer and give me a loaner car?

Yes, they should replace your soft top. A very tiny 1/4 inch tear appeared on my 05's soft top last month. I brought it in and they replaced it. No questions asked. They thought it might be defective soft top material from the factory - you may as well say the same thing. Good luck!

size of pencil tip shouldn't leak water inside. I had the same thing and it rained and i checked, nothing came in. superjimbo did u have to pay for labor? I don't think i should right?

plus when I bought the car in january from the honda dealer, the passenger side latch works but it is missing the springs when u push in the button it doesnt release. So even when the top is up, i dont have to push in the button to make it flip down, i can just pull down. Another thing is on the drivers side, it seems to leak water around the seal a little when it rains really hard. I think all this warrants for a new top.

well its actually bigger then a pencil tip. its more like half way up a pencil tip. When I was driving this morning to work, I could hear the air coming through it. So I think water would make its way through rather easily

patch it up with some duct tape as a temp. Because i know most hondas don't give out rental cars.
