Default Honda Dealerships fixing S2K soft tops ONLY if Original ?

So, I recently heard that if you have the original soft top on your s2k with (Honda) actually marked on it, a Honda dealership (if the s2 was bought from a Honda dealership) can fix it or replace it for a reduced price/ free?

Can someone clear this up for me? Cause when I bought my s2 from a dealership, there was a small tear that I noticed when I brought it home.

The tear is maybe 2-3". It can be seen from both the inside and out, but when I wash my car or when it rains, the water doesn't seep through.

never heard of this. usually dealerships contract out top replacements even if its oem. your best bet is to find someone who has done a few and get them to install for you.

In a word....no.

Get a piece of top fabric and bond it using E6000 Adhesive. You can frequently find it on the FS column. Or post up in your local communist. Many peeps keep fabric when they replace their tops. E6000 is available at craft shops (for "bedazzling"....gluing sequins to fabric).

No idea on the validity of that claim. I've only had OEM tops. First was replaced at no cost but the S2000 was still under original warranty. On the second one they split the cost and the S2000 was out of warranty.

There is a recall on 05+ S2000 soft tops but I'm not sure of the details. There is a thread on it somewhere on these forums. I never looked into it because I have an 04.

Gotta find some JDM sequins.
Just make sure to avoid the ones designated for "Vagazzling"
