Honda S2000 book info

Just looking for some information on this book, searched the internet and seems pretty rare?

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...11b1f346ab.jpg

Any info is appreciated, thanks.

I would have to agree that it is quite rare. I've never seen one like it in my 17 years as an owner which includes eBay browsing for items akin to that.

Limited edition book, which you could pick up if you looked, but I think are all sold out now...

I bought one but could not find much in the way of information on the net before hand. :p

Thanks for the info gents. Very nice book though.

Still holding onto mine.

F1 S2K 01-05-2017 05:29 PM

Limited edition indeed. The book has a serial number on the first page; mine is 2361. Book also comes with a protective sleeve, as shown below.

Pictured here is also the Carney book, which is rather rare too. I paid dearly for both...

I really didn't want to show my whole hand but it did come with the sleeve and is pretty mint. The same seller had the Carney book and I got both in a package deal but I know the value and rarity of the Carney book but not the other.

Nice collection, staring with the SSM/Red!

Thanks! I am very fortunate to own my 2003 AP1. I took this picture a couple of days ago... Sorry don't mean to hijack the thread...

Is there an ISBN number for the black book? I have an extra copy (used) of the Carney book that I will trade with if any one has one.

NNY S2k 06-01-2019 03:18 PM

I don't see an ISBN number on mine. Was copywrite 1999 American Honda Motor Company, Inc.

You could just list your asking price here and keep it in the community if that interests you? GLWS.

While it is hardbound, calling it a book could be considered slightly deceiving. It is a very nicely done promotional piece (marketing brochure) that totals less than 30 pages in all. Honda released another version of this exact same content that was spiral bound instead of a hardback, and it did not include a protective slipcover. The hardback version is a nice piece to have if you are into collectibles as Honda only put together a few thousand of these items. The Carney book is an actual book and much more informative.

The other book worth seeking out is the "Honda S2000 Performance Portfolio" put out by Brooklands Books. This book contains reprints of 36 different magazine reviews and articles on the S2000 throughout it's production lifetime that when combined result in 120 pages of content. It contains coverage of both the AP1 and the AP2 versions of the car. The reproduced content comes from a variety of sources, mostly US based magazines but also quite a few pieces that originated overseas. Some people put this book up on Ebay for crazy prices, but you can still find it on offer elsewhere online for around $30.

A variety of Honda S2000 literature.

Bumping this one I was going thru some items today. A shelter at home project and came across this book forgot I owned it. Has anyone seen one for sale or sold one recently? Thanks Zip

While not all that often, as far as I know they still occasionally do come up for sale every now and then both on Ebay and at a few automotive focused booksellers.

If anybody is getting rid of the "brochure" book send me a DM.

I've been waiting for this forever:
https://www.veloce.co.uk/store/The-B...000-p178818239

Seems to be terminally stuck in "Coming Soon" status. Anyone know if/when we'll ever see it?

I also ordered this and patiently waiting as well.

Thought I read somewhere that this book was cancelled. I too was interested in buying a copy. Cheers, Mike

The book from Veloce was changed to "Comming soon" status, yes. Maybe because we are in dire need of more books about the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar E-Type... ;)
But my last information is that i will be printed this summer. ??

The Black Press-Mapp Book of the Honda S2000 is very interesting, a wonderful read with beautifull technical drawings. I am also interested into getting one.
This was online as high quality PDF Document at the H-Tune forums, but the forum was closed down just as i wanted to create a account. :banghead:

Seems like some places are now suggesting 15 September publication date for Brian Long book.

Here’s one for example https://www.bookdepository.com/Book-.../9781787112148

Cheers, Mike

I had a pre-order in for the Veloce book last year with a local store and if I remember correctly the bookseller told me that the book had been cancelled. It would be great if this ever does come to light. I am not at all familiar with the Black Press-Mapp book that you are referring to. Do you have any other information that you could share on this particular publication?

It appears that just like most anything else involving the S2000, these books are rising in value. In this case a lot. There is a specialty bookstore in Seattle called books4cars — their business name pretty much tells you all that you need to know. Back in 2017 when I first found out about them and they had a copy of this book for around $60 if I remember correctly. Now I see that they have one and are asking $140! That seems pretty crazy to me for what it is, but just as with anything and with collectibles in particular supply & demand is the driving force behind such prices.

I have purchased books from books4cars when the prices of the books I was interested in were in the reasonable range in order to support such a business and to get what I wanted. But they also serve as a good resource to find out about books that I was not aware existed before seeing them listed on the books4now site. Some of them you can sometimes elsewhere for less, others i don't think you'll likely find anywhere else. Here are the books that they currently have listed for the S2000, including the slipcover book  that you were asking about.

Sorry for the confusion, i referd to the book posted in message # 15 here as the "Black press map", because to my limited knowledge it was given to journalists as helpfull information when the S2000 was released in 1999.
And i make a second mistake, i mixed up "map" and "folder". Double Sorry. In german, Folder = Mappe. Sometimes i stumble over some similarties in our languages.

Rare Honda S2000 pen!

I’ve been a collector of Honda S2000 memorabilia over the years and have owned all the books etc in this thread including the limited edition ‘black book’ which I sold last year for £250.

The rarest piece I have come across and currently own, is the only genuine Honda S2000 pen which was produced

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...9b0a73cd13.png

in the early 2000’s by World famous German company Lamy. It is a beautifully crafted titanium coated tri pen; black ink, red ink & pencil! Is has the embossed Honda S2000 logo and comes in a lovely case and sleeve. Produced and mainly given to Honda staff, I’ve yet to hear of anyone else having one or seeing one for sale. Does anyone out there own one?

SiHawk 11-04-2020 11:14 AM

I have the book and most of the memorabilia, that I bought around the time when I bought my 2005 new from the dealership.
Kept all of it, and packed it away.
