How to create a sun-roof
Hey Guys,
awhile back I purchased a CF Mugen hard top, and while I love the looks of it I miss moonlit drives. So I have decided to cut a sun-roof in it. Does anyone have a DIY, or can recommend an easy to install sunroof? |
April fools, right? Please say yes.
|
the weather is nice in Florida, and I miss being able to open the sunroof.
It should be a nice mod. :) |
I dont think I would mess with the structural rigidity of that roof, just my opinion. The only option is to get one of those cheesy flip-up moonroofs from JC Whitney, that we all had in the 80's, if you really plan to go through with it. Like Woodson said, I really hope your joking, though. If you do decide to go through with it, good luck and may God have mercy on your soul! :D

JC whitney huh? That sounds like a good idea :light: Thanks!
:hello: $218! That's a good price. http://www.jcwhitney.com/wcsstore/jc...1991G_CL_1.jpg |
april fools! lol!
but on a serious not I would not recommend doing it because of the fact that you are going to put a significant amount of weight to the ht and being that the part is composite(frp/cf) there is a good chance of cracking around the sun roof from flexing of the chassis. if you want a sunroof I would suggest doing so with the oe ht... |
could you make it like a t-top? The smaller panels would be easy to store in the trunk than the whole hardtop.
|
I can re-enforce the HT with wood and fiberglass. Just flip it over and after I Sawz-All the CF hole, put some 2x2 around it and then fiber glass the top in.
I think it's gonna come out great! |
Do it..
and let us know what happens to your $2500+ hardtop. Or you can just give it to me... |
