Default How Long Did Original Top Last?

I have a 2004 with 56k on the clock. It still has the original top and in very good condition, so I feel like it could last many more years without needing to be replaced, by looking at many other cars it seems few make it that many years without needing to be replaced. Anyone had an original top go 14-15 years with decent mileage on the car?

I think sunlight and weather would have a lot to do with how long tops last.

I'm at 10 years 41k miles and my top is like new.

My 2000 with 83K still original top, no tears, still good condition. Garage kept its first 40K and 10 years, they it was left outside for 2 years, been garaged ever since.

I have an original ragtop on my '03 with 356,000 miles. It has some shiny areas from being folded but otherwise it's mint. However I have a hardtop that I use most of the time so my ragtop hasn't seen much weather.

When you factor in the increased life of a ragtop to the cost of a hardtop, the extra expense of a hardtop is very cost effective. Besides- I could probably sell my hardtop for more than I paid for it back in 2003.

'03 with 63K miles. original top still looks like 8/10 with no rips evident. I do have some internal patches to bolster weak areas. Car is garaged 95% of the time.

Daily florida interstate driving and parking outside caused me to put a patch in the top every 5 months as the top cancer migrated across all the stretch points. I recently replaced my oem on my 2005 and it had 12 patches in it. I bought the car mint with 15,000 miles in 2010.

yr 2000 AP1, 105,xxxkm, original top, like new, no tears and rips whatsoever; back plastic window has unavoidably clouded up a bit (too lazy to buff it out). I think not parking outdoor and regular applications of vinyl protectant is key.

2002
97,000 miles
2" tear above driver's head.
Everything else looks good.

Probably 80% garage kept as far as I know.

Tear is slowly getting larger, so we'll be looking to repair that next week.
