well I am still here...already on the list above.

Baby is getting new shoes today (Pilot 4S's) and then some overdue maintenance, nothing bad, just coolant and brake fluid change that is overdue.

I used to come/lurk on this board multiple times a day for years but stopped a few years ago because activity slowed to a crawl except for the usual "How much is my car worth?" or "How much should I pay for this car?" or "Will these wheels fit? (AKA hellaflush)" threads. I've been without mine for some months now (with many more to come…) due to a move and actually haven't driven it since last fall before I put it away for winter. So basically, I missed my car a lot and decided to lurk on the board again to get a quick S2000 fix.

The S2000 gets some crap for being on the market for so long without many substantial changes but I didn't mind because it gave me a chance to buy one brand new. This was really important to me since I'm weary about buying used cars, especially performance cars. I actually didn't really care for it at first because I was all about the ITR at the time and wasn’t a fan of convertibles. As a longtime Honda fanboy, I had to choose another Honda to put on a pedestal once the ITR went out of production. In fall of 2001, Honda released press photos of the new S2000 color for MY 2002, Suzuka Blue, and I immediately fell in love. New Honda for the pedestal found.

It wasn’t until 2008 that I was in a position to buy one, hence me not minding that they were still making them. By then, Suzuka Blue was discontinued for the US, but I wasn’t a fan of the blue/black interior they switched to in ’06 anyway; I actually loved the all blue interior from previous years. I liked Laguna Blue Pearl but wasn’t a huge fan of the all black interior. If they offered the new dark brown interior like they had in Japan and showed off in their promo photos, I would’ve been completely sold. Still, LBP was my #1 choice and I started looking into dealer inventory. GPW was always a niggling thought in my mind (especially with that red interior!) and I started to feel more and more that I would eventually get tired of the “pop” of LBP over the years; GPW was just more timeless.

So, I made up my mind on GPW and started reaching out to local dealers in earnest around Jan-Feb ’08. None of them had a GPW and I eventually expanded my search to the entire state and some dealers within “reasonable” driving distance in neighboring states. Again, none had one in stock nor were any of them willing to put in an order for one. Some offered to look into trading with other dealers but I already knew that there were none throughout the state. It also didn’t help that a few of those dealers still had ‘07s on their lots that they were trying to unload on me so I wasn’t really getting much help. After a few weeks/a month, I kind of gave up hope but still held out for one because I knew I wouldn’t be happy if I settled for anything else.

One day out of the blue in Apr ‘08, a family friend, who heard that I had been searching for a GPW without luck, reached out to his friend who was a sales manager at a Honda dealership he used to work at. It turns out that they recently put a GPW on order and were even willing to work with me on pricing. I went to the dealer the next day, negotiated a bit, and put a deposit down. Fast forward to Jun ’08, the car finally arrived and my wait was over. After 6+ years of yearning for an S2000, I finally got one!

TL;DR: 06/2008 – GPW/red, 18xxx miles

I highly disagree. I think you were lurking in the wrong sub-forums. Sub-forums such as: Under Hood, R&C, Auto Racing discussion (although slow traffic), Brakes and suspension, have frequently had very useful and interesting information (to me). I learned a lot about my car on some of these forums. There are highly knowledgeable people on s2ki.com (like Billman, among others) that people like me benefit from.

And I apologize for diverting from the OP topic: How Many Original Owners.

Believe me, I went in many of those subforums over the years but they generally moved slower than some of the more... "general" subforums even when S2Ki was really alive and kicking. Yes, they had a lot of great info that I learned a lot from but by the time I stopped coming here regularly, they were going just as slow, if not slower, than the more general subforums.
