You guys had to pay over list when it first came out? Things must have changed by the time I got mine (05), I think the list was 33 and I paid 30.

Yep. It was very hard to find the paint color you wanted since dealerships were only provided a lvery limited number each year. They called it a market value adjustment. I bought mine in September '00 and was told the car would only be made for two years which made it seem worth it at the time.

its either owners don't frequent the site as much as they used like me cause it seems a little light the list.

also it would be interesting to know why people got rid of their S (family, another car, location, etc...).

one of the reasons i didn't get the S when it came out was the "market adjustments" every dealer had at the time. before moving to california (00) my 98 GSR was stolen and was ready to get either a ITR or S2K and was put off by the mark ups for both cars. i do regret not pulling the trigger on a phoenix yellow ITR that they were selling for $1000 over MSRP but couldn't see myself driving a yellow car.

MY06 was purchased for the same amount as your 05 and around that time S2K sales slowed down just like they always do for sports cars. i know my purchase came from a blog i read that 06 was the final year which of course it wasn't and within three days of reading that article i got the S.

January 5, 2001, the very first one I could buy at sticker. Always a 3rd car and never in snow. I still love the car but I'm too old to polish the inside of that plastic window so I just put it up for sale.

Original owner here, wanted this car for over a year...drove a 2001 and 2003 car....found out a revised car (AP2) was coming.... had to wait, my 2001 Miata had several issues, brake chatter, needed new gas tank, several clutches, and a new engine(#4 crank bearing)....warranty work done, time to get rid of it....waited for ap2 and got mine 10/03, it's a 04 model, with red/black interior and sebring.

Emailed 4 local dealers, one would give me sticker for blue only and the rest laughed at me wanting to deal...They demanded a premium of $5000 over sticker, (sticker was $32500 or so)every one of them....except one dealer, that's all it takes would give me the car at $500 under sticker, only black or sebring.

Upon arrival at the dealer there on the showroom floor was my car with a "$4995 dealer pack" on the windshield , we made our deal as stated, then found out car had 72 miles on it...they took another $250 off, so $750 under sticker with my 2001 Miata in trade for an ok price, I did not care, the Miata (my second) was a real lemon...so gladly traded up.
Drove out of the showroom doors, got a free tank of gas, a Honda hat, and wheel locks thrown in...I was happy and still am.

Hello! I'm the original owner of my MY2000 S2000. Started calling dealerships in November 1999 after sitting in one at the San Francisco Auto Show. Honda of Oakland was scheduled to receive their first one in February 2000. The car was so new and unknown to them that they sold it to me over the phone at sticker price (whatever that was going to be) with a $2,500 deposit. I stopped by, gave them a check and signed some sort of agreement and waited.

Car arrived in mid-February and it took them a day or two to get it ready for me, after which we completed the purchase. I paid exactly sticker - $32,000 + $415 delivery fee. Since then I've added the OEM hard top and the "wind deflector" - it was a dealer installed option then; otherwise, no changes. My car is all original and has had very very few issues. I drive it almost daily, but that only works out to about 2,000 miles/year. Just crossed 40,000 miles. Still all smiles when I drive her!
